Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park presents “Become Inspired by the Authentic” with 93 park events slated for 2012.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Ben Kauhane Heloca will share the traditional art of ohe kāpala bamboo stamp printing (on paper) with visitors throughout the day in the park amphitheatre.

This cultural event, sponsored by Hawaii County and the Hawaii Tourism Authority, provides visitors, residents and the community a time and place to gather, learn, share and become inspired.

Entrance fees are $5 per vehicle or $3 per person for walk-ins.

Raw foods workshop scheduled for Sunday

The Dragonfly Ranch Bed and Breakfast Healing Arts Center is hosting a Raw and Fermented Foods Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The workshop will be given by Benjamin Cohn.

Topics include the benefits of raw and fermented foods, the connection between fermented foods and vitamin B12, necessary devices and tools for creating raw food and fermented food, sprouting, probiotic lacto-fermented sauerkraut, coconut water kefir, sweet potato poi, natto “B12” dehydrated crackers, sesame spirulina “cheese,” mamaki kombucha and grain and bean sprouts.

Cohn is the resident “un-cooker” at the Dragonfly Ranch recruited by owner Barbara Moore to initiate a healing foods paradigm for the center guests and residents who are interested in improving health through raw food.

The workshop has a free introductory talk followed by demonstrations and interactive participation with a suggested donation of $30 to $50.
